EDS and Avista Corp. announce they have extended and broadened their 10-year IT outsourcing relationship with a new, 10-year agreement to optimize resources that bring enterprise-wide improvement. EDS will continue to provide a full complement of Agile Infrastructure Services including desktop, hosting and applications services to the natural gas and electric service provider. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"On Demand" Delivery Model Focused On Agility "EDS and Avista worked together to develop a strategic agreement that meets our technology and cost needs," said Jim Kensok, CIO for Avista. New to this agreement are on site mid range systems management and on site management and support of Avista's data networks and approximately 140 application and file servers. EDS also will continue to provide desktop support for more than 1,600 desktops across Avista's regional facilities in Washington, Idaho, Oregon and northern California, and provide applications development, maintenance and support for the energy provider's business applications. EDS will extend its Service Management Center operations in support of enterprise systems, and manage the printing and mailing of statements for more than 320,000 electric and 290,000 natural gas residential and commercial utility customers in the Pacific Northwest. "With the business environmental changes in the utilities industry, IT can quickly and efficiently enable clients to adapt their people, processes and systems to seize growth opportunities," said Diane Webb, vice president of EDS' Utilities Industry Group. "Successful companies like Avista are teaming up with their IT partners to gain the insight and foresight to manage their operations and deliver services effectively."
