Storage Solutions extended in HP's Utility Computing Range
[UC Newsdesk 2003/6/17]

HP has extended it's range of storage solutions aimed at it's "Adaptive Enterprise" model. It adds new security model to protect storage networks and aims to ease enterprise storage consolidation.

Partnering with Brocade Communications Systems, they have introduced StorageWorks Secure Fabric OS, a security software tool for B-series 1-gigabyte and 2-gigabyte storage area network (SAN) environments which enables users to tailor SAN fabric security to meet specific business requirements.

With storage networking becoming the accepted standard for enterprise storage consolidation, more users are creating large-scale SANs that contain increased volumes of business-critical data. Regardless of the current enterprise security infrastructure in place, customers need to defend their storage networks from potential intrusion and the threat of user or configuration error.

HP has also expanded its StorageWorks portfolio with new and enhanced storage systems, software, solutions and tools that increase application uptime, data recovery speeds and customer choice. The expansion contributes to HP's ENSA extended strategy by continuing to deliver controllable, resilient and extensible storage solutions.

"HP is executing against a well-articulated roadmap, providing our customers with the foundation of an adaptive enterprise that is responsive to business and IT changes," said Frank Harbist, vice president and general manager, HP Nearline Storage Division. "In particular, our software and tape library solutions announced today help companies achieve new levels of business continuity and application-awareness with storage."
