Unisys add power to their utility computing "Business Blueprinting" plan
[UC Newsdesk 2003/7/28]

Unisys have released the company's most powerful mainframe yet, which executives say positions their hardware to support utility computing environments. In conjunction with the company's "Business Blueprinting" Unisys claims it can build digital models that link business processes to the software and systems that support them.

The idea is that clients are able to visualize how strategic changes would affect not only the IT infrastructure but also the business itself. This enables them to rapidly assemble new business structures - new in terms of people, processes and technology - to prepare for shifts in the market, shifts in the organization or shifts in the technology. Unisys is applying this approach to the arena of high-volume, business-critical systems in the industries the company serves.

"The features and performance of the [new mainframe] ClearPath Plus Libra 185 makes it the ideal hardware platform for the Business Blueprinting strategy that Unisys unveiled last month," said Fred Dillman, vice president of technology and architecture for Enterprise Transformation Services at Unisys. "All of the critical components to support the roll-out of re-engineered business processes created by Business Blueprinting are in place, including the flexibility, power and security of the hardware, the deep integration capabilities of its extensive middleware portfolio and the sophisticated EAE software development environment."
