Metilinx and CA join with Microsoft on Enterprise Management [UC Newsdesk 2003/10/30]
Microsoft has announced new partners for its Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 which is part of the company's Dynamic Systems Initiative. MOM delivers operations management capabilities by providing event management, monitoring and alerting, reporting, and trend analysis. The Web services-based MOM Connector Framework (MCF) allows users to integrate MOM with external management tools and providing increased management benefits. "Today at PDC (Microsoft Professional Developers Conference), we are announcing a number of exciting partner efforts that offer enterprise customers advanced management functionality," said David Hamilton, director of the Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. "Through a new Web services-based MOM Connector Framework and range of new Management Packs from our industry partners, MOM helps keep mission-critical applications and systems running smoothly." MetiLinx has also announced a new product called MetiLinx Connector for MOM which virtualizes and unifies heterogeneous Microsoft systems management server environments. The combination of MetiLinx with MOM provides a full solution for management and monitoring for Microsoft and non-Microsoft systems. Users can use MetiLinx Connector to allow them to view all of their varied IT systems through one familiar MOM interface. In another announcement related to MOM, Computer Associates (CA) announced a new solution, Unicenter Web Services Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager, that it will provide administrators of MOM with visibility into the health and status of enterprise Web services, enabling them to track and manage business processes across .NET environments. Unicenter WSDM delivers business-level and IT-level management of .NET Web services environments, including real-time alerts and other management tools. By linking Unicenter WSDM's capabilities to MOM, the new CA management pack delivers broad management of. NET-enabled business systems - enabling Microsoft users to instantly detect any problems that could threaten performance or availability of critical services.
