Ejasent to develop On-Demand Infrastructure Reference Implementation with IBM [UC Newsdesk 2003/10/30]
Ejasent Inc., a solution provider in application management, application virtualization and usage data aggregation, reporting and analysis software for utility computing, announced that it is working with IBM's jStart program to jointly develop an on-demand infrastructure reference implementation, complete with usage-based metering and chargeback. As part of the partnership, Ejasent will work with IBM jStart team to integrate Ejasent's MicroMeasure with jStart's technology. IBM and Ejasent are developing a reference implementation of an on-demand bandwidth infrastructure. A WSLA (Web Service Level Agreement) document is used to define the service levels and specify corrective actions should a performance violation occur. Web Services interfaces are used to enable intersystem communication and integration. Any performance violation that occurs is reported using a Web services interface to MicroMeasure and the originating client. This triggers a change to the required resources that is communicated via the WSLA and eventually to Ejasent so the appropriate billing can take place. The plan of both companies is to demonstrate a solution for on-demand infrastructure services together with usage-based chargeback to enterprises seeking Utility Computing solutions. The implementation will serve as a reference implementation of the integration of Ejasent's MicroMeasure with IBM's WSLA framework and Web Services for IBM Global Services and their Utility Computing clients. "We are pleased to have partnered with IBM jStart to continue to refine our on-demand offerings," says Jason Donahue, CEO of Ejasent. "We are confident that this partnership will benefit IBM and its enterprise clients who are seeking greater efficiencies for their business through the implementation of on-demand products and technologies."
