Nokia to extend Adaptive Enterprise deal with HP
HP announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nokia to renew and expand the companies' existing global information technology services relationship for up to five years. Using HP Adaptive Enterprise strategy to evolve Nokia's IT environment to a service-based model.

Adobe software to be grid enabled by GridIron
GridIron Software and Adobe Systems have announced a licensing agreement in which Adobe Systems will bundle GridIron Software's grid computing technology into its After Affects Professional software, a digital rendering and video product, to allow it to run faster by sharing idle processing power on networked computers.

IBM to remotely manage customer data centers
IBM has unveiled a new IT service in which IBM remotely automates, manages and supports a user's multi-platform data center, while the user retains ownership of all IT systems and staff. The new support service helps users improve the utilization and cost management of their data centers.

IBM and Ketera Technologies has announced that Avnet, Inc., a technology marketing, distribution and services company, has begun deployment of an on demand service from Ketera Technologies and IBM that aims to transform the company's sourcing, procurement and spend management processes and provide savings to the company.

NTT selects Opsware solution to automate hosting business
Opsware Inc., a provider of data center automation and utility computing software, announced a multi-million dollar licensing agreement with NTT Communications (NTT Com), a subsidiary of Tokyo-based NTT Corporation. NTT Com, which provides services in more than 50 countries and territories worldwide, has selected Opsware's data center automation software to automate its hosting businesses across North America, Europe and Japan.

VERITAS acquires Ejasent for $59m
VERITAS, a major storage software provider, today announced it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Ejasent, a supplier of application virtualization technology for utility computing, in an all cash transaction valued at $59 million. VERITAS expects the acquisition to be completed by the end of January 2004.

Apple boosts it's corporate grid computing credentials
At Macworld San Francisco 2004, Apple previewed Xgrid, a computational clustering technology from Apple's Advanced Computation Group (ACG). Xgrid uses Rendezvous, a zero-configuration technology, to make cluster computing easy. The company also showcased Virginia Tech's supercomputer using a cluster of 1100 PowerMacs which is currently ranked the 3rd most powerful supercomputer in the world.
