Japanese Grid Computing market targeted by United Devices [UC Newsdesk 2003/7/21]
United Devices, which sells secure grid software solutions has announced two partnerships: Firstly, an expanded distribution partnership with NTT Data Corporation to sell and provide professional service support for United Devices' Grid MP(TM) Enterprise software platform in the Japanese market. Secondly, a partnership with Sumisho Electronics to distribute the company's Grid MP(TM) 4.0 grid-computing software "The success of our large-scale public grid computing experiment confirmed our interest in representing United Devices' corporate grid computing solutions," said "cell computing(R)" Project Leader at NTT DATA Corporation, Shoji Yarimizu. "The platform performed flawlessly while coordinating over twelve thousand compute nodes and its security and manageability will be ideal for the Japanese enterprise customer." Using Grid MP software, NTT DATA built Japan's first public research grid, "cell computing(R)", performing approximately 611 years worth of computation in just four months. Sumisho will introduce the 'Grid MP Starter Kit' for pilot deployments. The kit will include Grid MP 4.0 server software and 50 device licenses as well as a service support package. After initial evaluation, customers can add arbitrary licenses to build their own large-scale grid environments. Through the joint marketing and distribution agreement, both companies expect first year sales to exceed 2,000 licenses. |
